She grew up with three siblings: two sisters and one brother. Taylor's mother is an author and graphic designer, while her stepfather was a stand-up comedian.
Her biological father owned cafés around Melbourne. Interestingly, Taylor initially aspired to become a marine biologist before pursuing acting.
Eliza Taylor Career
Taylor’s career began with a lead role in Pirate Islands and a part as Rosie Cartwright in The Sleepover Club (2003). She then transitioned to more mature roles, including a guest appearance on Blue Heelers 2004. However, her big break came in 2005 when she was cast as Janae Timmins in the Australian soap opera Neighbors.
Though she had initially auditioned for a different role, Taylor secured the part and quickly became a fan favorite. Despite her on-screen family's departure in 2007, Taylor remained until she decided to leave the show to explore other opportunities. Her final episode aired on February 8, 2008. During her time on Neighbors, Taylor earned a nomination for Best Female at the Inside Soap Awards.
Following her departure, she portrayed Snow White in a Christmas pantomime in England and appeared in various projects, including the horror film 6 Plots and the pilot of Winners & Losers.
The 100' and Rising Fame Taylor’s career soared when she was cast as Clarke Griffin, the lead character in the post-apocalyptic series The 100 (2014–2020). Interestingly, Taylor landed the role after a series of fortunate events. Just as she was considering returning to Australia, she was called in for an audition, which led to her casting.
The series became a major success, and Taylor’s portrayal of Clarke earned her nominations for Choice TV Actress: Sci-Fi/Fantasy at the Teen Choice Awards from 2015 to 2018.
During this period, Taylor also starred in films such as The November Man (2014), Thumper 2017, and the Netflix holiday film Christmas Inheritance 2017.
2021–Present: Directing and New Ventures In 2021, Taylor expanded her creative horizons by directing two music videos: "Vices" by Sarah and the Sundays, and "Bad Posture" by Abby Anderson. She also made a guest appearance as Doctor Villka in The Orville (2022).
In 2023, Taylor and her husband Bob Morley co-starred in the sci-fi thriller I'll Be Watching, where she also served as an executive producer. That same year, she took on a similar role in the romantic comedy It Only Takes a Night.
Taylor continued to make waves in 2024, joining the cast of Quantum Leap as a series regular in its second season, portraying Hannah Carson.
Eliza Taylor Personal Life
On June 7, 2019, Taylor announced her marriage to Bob Morley, her co-star from The 100. The couple had planned to direct episodes for the final season of The 100, but Taylor’s plans were interrupted due to a miscarriage. On March 20, 2022, they joyfully announced the birth of their first child, a son.
In 2024, Taylor opened up about her battle with postpartum depression during an interview on Tommy Didario's podcast I've Never Said This Before, alongside her husband Bob. She candidly discussed the challenges she faced during that difficult period.
