London, UK – Chelsea Football Club announced today that they have mutually agreed to part ways with head coach Mauricio Pochettino. This decision comes after a single season under Pochettino’s leadership.
The Argentinian manager, who joined Chelsea in July 2023 after coaching at Paris Saint-Germain and rivals Tottenham Hotspur, had a year left on his two-year contract.
In a statement, Sporting Directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley expressed their appreciation for Pochettino’s efforts. "On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career," they said.
Pochettino also shared his sentiments, thanking the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to contribute to the club’s legacy. "The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come," he remarked.
Alongside Pochettino, his coaching team—Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez, and Sebastiano Pochettino—have also departed the club.
Chelsea FC has stated that no further comments will be made until a new head coach is appointed. The football community now waits to see who will take up the reins at Stamford Bridge next season.
