Diogo met Rute in 2012 at high school in Porto. He was just 15 years then, a quiet, focused boy already dreaming of a future in football. Rute was the girl who made him laugh in the corridors, who listened when no one else did. What began as friendship quietly bloomed into a deep, lasting bond.

By 2016, their connection had grown even stronger. That year, Diogo proposed to Rute on a quiet beach near Matosinhos, no photographers, no crowd ,just a simple promise between two young hearts who already knew they’d found home in each other.

In 2017, they moved to England together as Diogo began his Premier League journey. The transition wasn’t easy, but they had each other. Their first son, Dinis, was born in 2019, the same year Diogo starred in Wolverhampton’s Europa League campaign. Then came Duarte in 2022, a time when Liverpool fans were chanting his name and Rute was cheering him on from home, balancing motherhood and love.

Their third child, a beautiful baby girl named Diana, arrived in November 2024, completing their circle of joy.

Through it all, promotions, injuries, goals, transfers, Rute was his calm. Diogo would often say, “Football gave me a career. Rute gave me life.”

And finally, after 13 years of love, partnership, and growth, Diogo and Rute were married in a heartfelt ceremony in Porto on June 22, 2025.
