Anok Yai Early and Personal Life
Anok Yai was born in Cairo, Egypt. When she was three years old, her family moved to Manchester, New Hampshire, seeking better opportunities.
Her mother works as a nurse, and her father is employed by Easterseals, a nonprofit organization that provides services for people with disabilities. Anok has a sister named Alim, who manages her career and works as a financial consultant.
Anok attended Manchester High School West and later studied biochemistry at Plymouth State University. She initially aspired to become a doctor, but her life took a different turn when she was discovered by a photographer.
Career
Anok Yai's modeling career began unexpectedly in October 2017. She was attending Howard University's homecoming week when a professional photographer named Steve 'theSUNK' Hall noticed her and asked to take her picture. He posted the photo on Instagram, where it quickly gained over 20,000 likes.
This caught the attention of several modeling agencies, including IMG Models. After receiving persistent calls from Next Model Management, Anok decided to sign with them.
Just four months into her modeling career, Anok achieved a major milestone by becoming the first Sudanese model to open a Prada fashion show. Opening a Prada show is considered one of the highest honors in fashion modeling, as it often launches successful careers.
Anok also appeared in Prada's Spring/Summer 2018 campaign and an upcoming Nike campaign designed by Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci.

In February 2022, she graced the cover of British Vogue alongside an all-black modeling cast. One significant recognition of her supermodel status came with a September 2022 cover celebrating the 50th anniversary of W magazine.
