In a recent performance at New York City’s Irving Plaza on January 31, Justin Timberlake, 43, showcased his musical talents by singing both classic hits and unveiling new songs. However, it wasn't just the music that grabbed attention; Timberlake took a moment to address the audience during the introduction of his 2002 hit, "Cry Me a River."

"I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f–king nobody," Timberlake boldly declared, as captured in footage shared on social media.

Timberlake's statement followed Britney Spears' public apology shared on January 28 via Instagram. The apology was in reference to comments made in her memoir, "The Woman in Me," released last fall. Spears expressed regret, saying, "I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about, I am deeply sorry."

The connection between the two exes became more apparent when Spears posted a video of Timberlake singing with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." This led social media users to speculate that her apology was directed towards Timberlake. Additionally, Spears gave a shout-out to Timberlake's new music.

The history between Spears and Timberlake dates back to their relationship from 1999 to 2002. In her October 2023 memoir, Spears disclosed intimate details, including her decision to have an abortion, allegedly influenced by Timberlake.

Despite Timberlake releasing a new single on January 25, Spears' fans rallied to keep her 2011 song with the same title on the charts. The songs were in a close competition for the top spot on the iTunes charts.

Spears openly shared her perspective on the past, stating, "It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day.

This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated. But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."

Wrapping up the unexpected turn of events, Spears expressed her admiration for Timberlake's latest song, "Selfish," and humorously acknowledged the laughter she shares when watching Timberlake and Fallon together.
