3rd Dec 2024 | category: Celebrity News | Hits: 266Debbie Nelson, the mother of iconic rapper Eminem, has passed away at the age of 69. According to TMZ, Nelson died on Monday, Dec. 2, after a battle with advanced lung cancer. News of her diagnosis first surfaced in September through various media outlets.
Nelson's relationship with her son, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, was often tumultuous and highly publicized. Despite their differences, Nelson had recently shown support for Eminem from afar.
In 2022, when the rapper was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, she shared a heartfelt message congratulating him.
"Marshall, I want to say, I could not let this day go by without congratulating you on your induction into the Hall of Fame," Nelson said in a video message at the time. "I love you very much. I knew you'd get there. It's been a long ride. I'm very, very proud of you."
The video, which has since been deleted, marked one of the few public acknowledgments of her son's success in recent years.
Eminem, now 52, has spoken openly about his strained relationship with his mother in his music, but her message during his Hall of Fame induction hinted at a sense of reconciliation or respect in her later years.
The Mathers family has faced several tragedies over the years, including the passing of Eminem's estranged father, Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr., who died in 2019 at the age of 67.
